The North House was built in 1854 and was designed by Murray & Denny, it served as the male wards for the Richmond Asylum. The building was refurbished as the Academic Hub & Library for TUD.

The scope of work includes:

  • Stonework Repairs: Conducting detailed assessments of the existing stone façade and executing necessary repairs to restore structural integrity and aesthetic quality.
  • Brick Repairs and Replacement: Identifying damaged bricks and performing precise repairs, including replacing bricks where necessary to match the original design.  Application of Remmers breathable paint to internal brick work.
  • Chimney Repairs: Inspecting and reinforcing the chimney structures to ensure their stability and functionality while preserving their historical significance.
  • Repointing: Carefully removing old mortar and replacing it with a new mix to enhance durability and weather resistance while maintaining the façade’s appearance.
  • Façade Cleaning: Implementing safe and effective cleaning methods to restore the façade’s visual appeal without causing damage to the materials.
  • Joist Repairs: Assessing and repairing existing joists to maintain the structural integrity of the building.
  • Installation of new precast window surrounds
